Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a national level aptitude test conducted by the All India Management Association (AIMA). MAT is used for admission to Master of Business Administration (MBA) and allied programmes by over 600 business schools across India. The minimum eligibility criteria for MAT is graduation. You need to fulfil any one of the following conditions:

• You hold a Bachelor’s Degree of minimum three years duration or equivalent in any discipline.
• You are appearing for the final year of Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination.
• You have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results.

Candidates can take MAT four times in a year in February, May, September and December

• Remote Proctored Internet Based Test (IBT) or
• Paper Based Test (PBT) or
• Computer Based Test (CBT) or
• a combination of the above.
• Notification for any MAT comes a month to two months in advance of the test. E.g., the notification for a February MAT is likely to come in December or early January
• PBTs are generally held on first Sundays. E.g., the May MAT PBT is likely to be held on the first Sunday of May.
• CBTs are generally held on second Sundays.E.g., the September MAT CBT is likely to be held on the second Sunday of September.
• IBTs are generally held over two to three weekends.
• Results are declared in the last week of the month.

Section Information

Each of the five sections has 40 questions and the actual score for each section can be a maximum of 40 and overall score, a maximum of 200. But these scores do not appear in your MAT scorecard. In your scorecard, you will see four types of scores – Scaled Score and Percentile Below for each section and the Composite Score and Overall Percentile Below.

Scaled Score for Each Section:

• Your actual score for each section (out of 40) is scaled to a range of 0 to 100, though sectional scaled scores below 20 or above 80 are very rare. In your scorecard, you will see sectional scaled scores at this range.

Percentile Below for Each Section:

• Your scaled score in each section is converted to percentile based on your relative performance in that section.

Composite Score and Overall Percentile Below:

• The scaled scores of the first 4 sections are taken to calculate the Composite Score and Overall Percentile. The score of 5th section, Indian & Global Environment, is not considered for this.
• The Composite Score is calculated based on the difficulty levels of the PBTs, CBTs and IBTs of a season and its range is 200 to 800.
• The Overall Percentile Below is calculated based on your relative performance in the first 4 sections of the test.
• Generally, it has been observed that a Composite Score of 680 fetches a 90 percentile, 650, 80 percentile, 600, 70 percentile, 550, 60 percentile and 500, 50 percentile.
