What is IBPS Specialist Officer (SO) exam?

The IBPS SO exam is conducted to recruit specialist officers in various public sector banks under IBPS. IBPS SO Exam is conducted for recruiting candidates for the posts of IT Officer, Agricultural Field Officer, Rajbhasha Adhikari, Law Officer, HR/ Personnel Officer, and Marketing Officer.

Am I eligible for IBPS SO exam?

Nationality: You must be an Indian citizen.

Age limit:

At the time of the registration, your age should NOT be less than 20 years or more than 30 years.

Age relaxation:

Educational Qualifications:

IT Officer (Scale I):

  1. You should have an engineering or technology Degree in Computer Science/ Applications, IT, Electronics, Electronics & Telecommunications, Electronics & Communication or Electronics & Instrumentation; Or
  2. Aspirants having a PG degree in the following fields are also eligible; Or
  3. A graduate who has passed DOEACC ‘B’ level can also apply for IBPS SO.

Agricultural Field Officer (Scale I): Aspirants should have a 4-year degree (graduation) in Agriculture, Horticulture, Food Technology, Agricultural Engineering or any other related field to apply for this post.

Rajbhasha Adhikari (Scale I): Individuals having a PG degree in Hindi with English as a subject at the graduation level or a PG degree in Sanskrit with English and Hindi as subjects at the graduation level are Eligible for IBPS SO.

Law Officer (Scale I): Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) and should be enrolled as an advocate with the Bar Council.

HR/ Personnel Officer (Scale I): A graduate with 2-years full-time PG degree or diploma in Personnel Management, Industrial Relations, HR, HRD, Social Work or Labour Law can apply for this post.

Marketing Officer (Scale I): Aspirants should have a 2-year full-time degree in MMS (Marketing), MBA (Marketing), PGDBA, PGDBM, PGPM or PGDM with specialization in Marketing.

What is the testing process?

The IBPS PO testing process consists of five stages:

  • Online Prelims exam
  • Online Mains exam
  • Personal Interview

The marks obtained in the Prelims test is only considered for qualification in the Mains test.
